Cable / Internet Reduction Script
Hi, I've been a loyal customer for [X] years and I've noticed my bill has increased to $[amount]/month. I've been looking at [Competitor] who is offering $[lower price]/month for comparable service.
I'd really like to stay with [Provider], but I need to keep my budget in check. Can you help me find a better rate or any current promotions?
[If they say no]: I understand. Could I speak with your retention department? I'd like to explore my options before I make any changes to my account.
[If transferred to retention]: Hi, I've been reviewing my budget and my current rate of $[amount] is higher than what competitors are offering. I've been a loyal customer with no late payments. What can you do to help me stay?
Key phrases: "loyal customer," "reviewing my budget," "competitor is offering," "retention department"
Phone Plan Negotiation Script
Hi, I'm calling about my current plan at $[amount]/month. I've been comparing plans and I've found that [Competitor] offers [specific plan details] for $[lower price]/month.
Before I switch, I wanted to check if there are any promotions or loyalty discounts available for my account. I've been with [Provider] for [X] years.
Checklist before calling:
- Check current data usage (Settings > Cellular)
- Compare: T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon, Mint Mobile, Visible
- Know exactly what you need (data, lines, international)
- Check if your phone is paid off (unlocked = more leverage)
- Look for employer/military/student discounts first
[If they offer a small discount]: I appreciate that, but the difference is still significant. [Competitor] is offering $[X] less per month. Is there anything else you can do?
Rent Renewal Negotiation Letter
Dear [Landlord/Property Manager],
Thank you for notifying me about the lease renewal. I've enjoyed living at [Address] and I'd like to continue. However, I have concerns about the proposed increase to $[new amount]/month.
Here's why I believe a more modest adjustment is fair:
1. I've been a reliable tenant for [X] years with on-time payments
2. Comparable units in the area are currently listed at $[market rate]
3. Tenant turnover costs you an estimated $[1-2 months rent] in vacancy and prep
4. I maintain the unit well and have not submitted excessive maintenance requests
I'd like to propose a renewal at $[your target], which represents a [X]% increase and is in line with the current market.
I'm happy to discuss this further or sign an extended lease for rate stability.
Best regards,
[Your Name]
Medical Bill Payment Plan / Hardship Letter
[Payment Plan Request - Call Script]
Hi, I received a bill for $[amount] for services on [date]. I'd like to discuss payment options.
Can you tell me if there's a prompt-pay discount available? Many facilities offer 20-40% off for paying in full upfront.
[If no discount]: I understand. In that case, could we set up an interest-free payment plan? I can commit to $[monthly amount] per month.

[Hardship Letter - Email/Mail Template]

Credit Card APR Reduction Script
Hi, I've been a cardholder for [X] years and I've always made my payments on time. I'm currently paying [X]% APR and I've received offers from other cards at [lower rate]%.
I'd like to request a rate reduction on my account. Given my payment history and loyalty, I believe a lower rate is warranted.
[If they say no]: I understand. Could you check if there are any promotional rate offers available for my account? Even a temporary reduction would help.
[If they still say no]: Thank you. I'd like to note that I'm considering transferring my balance to [Competitor Card] which is offering [X]% for [X] months. Could you please document my request and escalate this to a supervisor?

🚗 Car Buying Negotiation
CAR BUYING NEGOTIATION - STEP BY STEP
BEFORE VISITING THE DEALER:
1. Research invoice price on KBB.com, Edmunds.com, or TrueCar
2. Get pre-approved for financing (credit union rates beat dealer rates)
3. Check dealer inventory online - know the exact car you want
4. Get email quotes from 3+ dealers for the same vehicle
5. Time it right: end of month, end of quarter, or holiday weekends
AT THE DEALER:
Step 1 - "I've done my research. I know the invoice price is $[X]. I'd like to offer $[invoice + $200-500]."
Step 2 - If they counter high: "I appreciate that, but I have written quotes from [Dealer B] and [Dealer C] for this same vehicle. I'm ready to buy today from whoever gives me the best price."
Step 3 - Never negotiate monthly payments. Always negotiate the OUT-THE-DOOR price.
Step 4 - Say NO to every add-on: extended warranty, paint protection, fabric coating, gap insurance (buy it elsewhere for 1/3 the price if needed).
Step 5 - "What's your absolute best out-the-door price? I'll make a decision today."
POWER PHRASES:
- "What's the out-the-door price?"
- "I'm ready to buy today if the price is right"
- "I have financing already arranged"
- "I'm comparing offers from three dealers"
- "I'd like to see the invoice"
WALK-AWAY TRIGGER: If they won't come within 3-5% of invoice on a common model, walk away. They'll often call you back.
